About

I’m just a 64 year old retired guy, who likes to blog, and write about things that are of interest to me. I’ve been doing this for the last four years. When I first started to blog, I was using Google Blog, then decided to switch to Word Press, which was about six months later.

    • Thank you for the nice compliment.

I started blogging on google blogger in 2009, but didn’t care for it. So switched to Word Press later that year, but I didn’t start rock ‘n rolling until I retired from the work a day world earlier this year, so now i have more time to do the research, and blog on it.

You never know what this 62 year old brain will come up with.

      • I like wordpress better, too. It gives me a lot more options, and making friends is a lot better, has more of a community feel.

I’m looking forward to being in my sixties some day. I consider it license to be bitchier. My young adult children are already wielding menopause jokes at me. Ingrates. Maybe I should consider it training ground to be a fiery retiree. :-D

      • I find that Word Press has a cleaner and brighter look to it, than Google Blogger.

One of the good things about being retired, is that I am in no rush to do anything.

  1. Howdy Don. Your “About” could be written about me! I’m 51 and have been blogging for 6 or 7 years in one form or another. I also think Independently, but usually vote for democrats. Since I’m in Kansas, which I like to call KanAss when it comes to politics, I’ve had my own “trolls” occasionally, always conservative whack-jobs.
I too am all about “the little guy” and/or those less fortunate in our society. I think of my political views as populist.

Yes, Google Blogger sucks! There are some google blogs I would like to comment on, but it’s such a hassle. Seems like my Open ID account never works right.

I got downsized in the big crash, and now I work 2 jobs just trying to make as much as I did with 1 job. I like to write my own stuff, but find very little time to read and write.

    I will be back!

  2. wow. a cool older guy. like me. what is fortuitous about our having met is that i was thinking about adding some political opinions to my site. just yesterday, actually.

i am a retired psychotherapist. retired, unwillingly, due to a stroke. you can read my ‘about’. i am politically aware, but i have conservative leanings.

    YIKES11

don’t shoot! i’m not a red-necked, gun tooting, anti-communist arch enemy of freedom. puleese!!! if there were a dozen political parties, i would be right of center. but i’m no Nazi.

i just think that economic behaviour has rules that work like a fine Maserati car. it works best when we don’t f@@k with it. beyond that, i’m always open for discussion.

i’d love to be in touch with you. i’ll laugh with your cartoons and maybe comment on them. responsibly, of course. respectfully.

don’t shun me. conservatives bleed. we have feelings. just different ones.

  5. Don, (1) THANK YOU for being such a loyal follower of my blog and (2) FORGIVE ME for taking so long to subscribe to yours.

When someone clicks on your gravatar (say, when you’ve left a comment on someone’s blog), they get your gravatar profile but NOT a link to your blog. You can add that link to your profile by choosing your WP “Dashboard,” scrolling down and choosing “Users/My Profile,” scrolling way down that page and entering your URL under the heading “Links,” and then clicking on “Update Profile.” Now if anyone clicks on your gravatar, they will see a thumbnail shot of your blog homepage and a link to it.

Feel free to delete this “How-To” from your “About” page. –John
